#MyHappyHouseDreams: Hardware Reveal!

November 04, 2018 by Sophie Loghman

Ah, you guys! I am SO excited to start revealing all my amazing renovation projects and updates to #MyHappyHouseDreams. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen some sneak peaks on my newest project - a house!! - on my Instagram Stories. And today, I am so so so SO excited to share our amazing hardware updates with Emtek!

Picking out my hardware for this new space was no easy task, but I’ve always known that I HAD to get Emtek products when the time right time came. It’s cheesy, but it’s been a DREAM of mine to renovate a house and brass hardware gives me alllll the big heart eyes. 😍😍😍

I first discovered Emtek on Pinterest - and reached out to one of their dealers to describe the vibe I was going for with this house. I knew I wanted something clean, modern, and eclectic. I painted the entire interior white so having statement pieces throughout the house (like fun hardware) was a must.

My first task was the kitchen. The original knobs of the house were dark and oval-shaped - and frankly did not match the aesthetic I had dreamed of. I (like many of you!) work on a budget so I wasn’t able to re-do my cabinets and knew I had to to use mod, brass hardware to give the kitchen a nice, easy (and affordable!) facelift. So, I browsed online and was immediately drawn to Emtek’s Mod Hex Pull and Mod Hex Knob. The best part about the knob buying process with Emtek is that almost every piece comes in multiple finishes, so you are sure to find one to your liking. I personally was drawn to the Satin Brass Finish for almost all of my pieces - it’s gold, it’s shiny, and it’s perfection.

I knew I had to use a similar finish for my yellow dutch door, so I picked out Emtek’s Dutch Door Bolt. It’s the perfect pairing with my hardware. The brushed gold look has really updated my kitchen and I am SO happy with the results! Hellllo, brass knobs + pink fridge + yellow dutch door = my kind of kitchen heaven!

The next area to tackle was the front door. Because I am going to be utilizing this house for short-term rentals, I knew I wanted something that had easy in-and-out access - and with a bold look. I was torn between having a regular keyed lock or a keypad with bluetooth, and decided to go with the smart home style EmTouch Keypad Entryset in flat black finish. The black accents my pink door SO well - and I could not be more excited at how this turned out. I was easily able to program it with unique user codes so that my future guests can easily come in and out of the house - without me having to meet them for the key!

And the last room of my house to update was the bathroom! I cannot be more excited about how it turned out. The floors, the clawfoot tub, the subway tile, the faucet and the hardware!! Everything just came out so magically together and it’s probably my favorite room in the house.

To keep up with the brass knobs and pulls in my kitchen, I picked brass finishes for my bathroom pieces (since the bathroom is right next to my kitchen). I found the MOST AMAZING bird faucet for my bathroom sink - and the Modern Brass Towel Bar was the perfect accent to the gold hues of the faucet.

Sooooo, what do ya’ll think?!? I hope you love everything as much as I do! I have to give a huge THANK YOU to Emtek for making all my hardware dreams come true! Every piece makes a huge difference in the overall aesthetic of #myhappyhousedreams. And pssssst, if you are every wanting an easy update to your space but can’t afford a full renovation, I highly suggest finessing your place with some fun hardware from Emtek!

#MyHappyHouseDreams Reveal!

November 04, 2018 by Sophie Loghman

AHHHH - I could NOT be more excited about this blog post. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have heard that I bought a house!! I’ve sent the last two months or so renovating/fixing/working with contractors/picking out paint/finding furniture/learning about budgeting/and SO MUCH MORE. One of my first immediate projects for my house was a paint refresh - and I couldn’t be more excited to showcase my reveal! I partnered with Behr for both my interior and exterior paint job - and am in LOVE with how everything turned out.

To get things started, I’ll give you a preview of the house BEFORE I painted. It was a dark orange color and I reallllly wanted to lighten it up. I contemplated between painting the entire house pink (because, duh) or keeping it more neutral with bright pops of color. As you know, I am an HUGE advocate of color - but I also wanted to have a house that would appeal to lots of people because I plan on renting it out short-term. It still needed to have some hints of Sophie so I chose a bright white for the exterior and the most perfect blush pink for my front door.

I went to a salvage yard here in Atlanta and scored the cutest victorian-style door. I KNEW I needed it from the moment I saw it. I am using it as my screen door - and painted it, along with my front door, Behr’s Angel Kiss P160-1 color. It was the PERFECT accent to Behr’s Ultra Pure White. These two colors have made for my perfect little dollhouse. I have neighbors come up to me CONSTANTLY telling me how much they love my door; And I truly get giddy every time I walk in into my house because of the pink color door!

After I finished the exterior, it was time to tackle the interior of my house. The entire house was painted a muted light grey color, which I knew I had to change. It’s a small space (less than 1100 square feet), so I opted for Behr’s Polar Bear #75 in Satin for the entire house. Yes, I mean entire house! Here’s a photo of the interior before (ugh, bye bye grey):

And hellllllo white!

As you can see, the Polar Bear colors makes SUCH a difference and totally opens up the space. It looks SO. MUCH. BIGGER. and is a lot more airy. I couldn’t be more excited!!

One of my favorite projects of #myhappyhousedreams was installing a dutch door in my kitchen. When I tell you it’s been a dream of mine to have a dutch door for years, I am not exaggerating. Nothing makes me happier than dutch doors! I’m not the only crazy person here, right? So, when I started going over colors with Behr, I decided to go for a bold statement color: Buzz In P300-6.

This yellow is the PERFECT accent to my generally white kitchen. I utilized pops of colors with my appliances - like my pink fridge, teal microwave, and pink toaster - and didn’t want to overdue the pink and make it too feminine. Because of the house’s open concept layout, the yellow door is the first thing you see when you walk in - and I couldn’t be more in love.

I hope you all love my house as much as I do! I want to give a HUGE THANKS for Behr for helping make my house dreams a reality!
